Meet your local guide in the lobby of your hotel at 07.30 this morning, before travelling North across the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Australia’s shortest freeway. Continuing west, our first stop is at Featherdale Wildlife Park, home to Australia’s favourite marsupials. Arriving early to beat the crowds and allow you to enjoy unrestricted views of kangaroos, koalas, wallabies and wombats. You will love these amazing animals.4.7 based on 10 reviews
Tour started off with some rain but that didn’t dampen the trip. We stopped at Featherdale first to see the animals. It was early enough that it wasn’t busy and even with the drizzle most of the animals were active. I enjoyed the interaction with the animals and learning about them. Our first lookout was closed but we proceeded to the next. The trek to Wentworth falls is a bit steep (1.2 mi 1 way) but so worth it. Just have to pace yourself going down and up. Katoomba falls was gorgeous and a much easier trek. All of the views were stunning. Tony was very knowledgeable and a great guide for our trip.
We thoroughly enjoyed this trip. I was a bit sceptical about the wildlife park, as we had already seen a lot of animals and birds in the wild, but it was actually brilliant. They had a wonderful bird collection, as well as the standard k+K's! But e.g. Echidnas, and wombats were also interesting. We had got in and out before the crowds - and by the time we left the car park was packed! The gentle jaunt around the highlights of the Blue Mountains that you can realistically do in a day was great - and David our guide, was informative, humorous and very helpful. Would definitely recommend this small groups experience.
Mark was a great tour guide-friendly and informative. I don’t want to give too much away for any of these tours as they really are better when one goes in knowing little. That said, I will say that the views were incredible, lunch delicious, and the trip to Featherdale on the way to the Blue Mountains was wonderful.
Our family and one other (9 people total) had a comfortable ride in a van with KG as our guide. She took us on a driving tour of the Rocks, then through a wildlife habitat, pointing out all of the animals and birds local to Australia. We took a quick drive through the Olympic park. Next we stopped at a clearing in a park where our guide brought out some cookies and tea for the group. We had fun feeding the birds in the park as well. She made the day fun for the kids as well as the adults. We went into the Blue Mts where we had lunch. As we drive KG told us plenty about this part of Australia. We had lunch in the national park, calling ahead with our order. We were short on time, so we didn’t stop to browse in the town which was a bit disappointing. We saw the 3 sisters but not the waterfall. While we did have a great time with KG, I do which we had time to see the waterfall. It is a long day of driving, but worth getting out of Sydney to explore the countryside. If I had one recommendation it would be to skip the Rocks tour as that’s easy to do on your own. Heading out right away would allow more time in the country.
I love state parks and national parks in the US, so this tour was my favorite on a recent trip to Sydney. We first stopped at the Featherdale wildlife park and saw various kinds of Australian animals. Then we drove on to the Blue Mountains National Park - it was lovely, and there were kangaroos just lounging about not far from the picnic table where we had morning tea. We had lunch at the Conservation Hut (delicious) at Wentworth Falls, and also saw the Jamison Lookout, the Three Sisters, and Katoomba Falls. The drive to/from Sydney was a bit long, but well worth it, and in a comfortable vehicle. We would recommend this tour.
Our guide David picked us up right on schedule at our hotel in Sydney for a drive out and tour through the Blue Mountains. We started out at the Featherdale Wildlife Preserve and arrived before they opened for a more private tour. Next up a tea in a nice park off the beaten path on our drive to Wentworth Falls. Tea and cookies on a picnic table with wild kangaroos grabbing a bite to eat in an open field just meters away. David was friendly and very knowledgeable of the area, people and stories surrounding all of the parts we visited. Off to lunch at the conservation hut at Wentworth Falls for a tasty lunch David had called ahead for after taking our order on the drive up. Next 3-4 km hike down to the falls and then over to the three sisters monument and a nice last stop overlooking the valley. A two hour drive back to Sydney and at our hotel right on schedule. If you want to see the mountains I cannot think of a better way to spend the day than with the crew at ALE. Book it now. You will not be disappointed.
We had a really lovely day visiting the Blue Mountains. Our driver and guide Mark was excellent. Very knowledgable and patient . It was just us, a family of 4 , for the full day so we could do everything at our pace. We loved the Featherdale Wildlife Park- and we were there before the crowds. Our morning tea was in in a beautiful setting. Lunch was pleasant and well organised in an eco lodge with great views. And then the walk to the stunning Wentworth Falls followed by other stops were the views didn’t disappoint. Thank you Mark . Highly recommended.
We were excited based on the description my travel agent provided. Didn't really match the hype. Our guide for the day was Mark, a super nice guy but seemed a bit reserved and didn't really talk much. He answered my kids' questions but did not offer a whole lot of narration. Our first stop was Featherdale Wildlife Park which was great because you get to feed wallabies and kangaroos which is amazing. But Mark was on a schedule and we felt rushed to get out of the park and on our way to the mountains. Are they majestic? sure. Did I need to stop at 4-5 points of view to take pics, not really. Not my thing. So we saw the 3 Sisters after a long drive, a 2 minute walk and took some pics. I would have preferred more time in the wildlife park. Lunch was unexciting and average at best. I enjoyed the idea of a picnic in a park in search of wild kangaroos. Unfortunately the whole world was in the park having a BBQ and the wildlife was scared off. Not a chance. Our snacks were delicious - the ANZAC cookies and Lamingtons were delicious and were probably the second best thing of the day. I was under the impression we were going to stop in the town Leura to explore but we drove through it and waved. After 2 weeks in Australia/NZ with excursions booked on 10 days, this came in dead last among all my family members when we considered the time invested, the cost and the enjoyment/benefit. Sorry.
